THE ORDER of the SPR INDUCTION (2017 Nomination Form)

Induction into the “Order of the SPR” represents the highest award the NPMA bestows on an individual.  Shortly after the NPMA was formed, a program was established to recognize outstanding and significant contributions of enduring value to the aviation fueling world.  This group was called the "Order of the SPR".  The symbol is the universal aircraft fueling adapter, or the "SPR", the single point receptacle, an acronym coined by the military when the first large jet aircraft pressure refueling systems were designed and built in the late 1940s, and “SPR” it has been for the past 70 years.  The people honored with induction into the order have one thing in common – they have that little extra that is the difference between the ordinary and the extraordinary.  They do not follow where the path may lead.  Instead they go where there is no path and leave a trail.  The SPR is embedded in NPMA as Safety, Professionalism and Reliability.
